RELIGION or POLITICS - This is INTERESTING ......

Hi y'all on this monday of a new week, may it be a really good one for alllllllllllll.

I was reading a book by Randy Wayne White, and an interesting conversation came along which I found appropriate for the times, as it was meant to be and felt it worth passing along. A sort of warning for your future.

One man said to this other chap he was talking to -- "Let me give you a condensed version of why we need strong people in political office with good motives. He goes on, "Shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely a hundred people and here are the ratios.

There would be 57 Asians, 20 Europians, 7 South Americans, 9 Africans, and 8 from the U.S. Seventy of those people would be non-Christians, eighty would live below the poverty level, and half the world's wealth would be in the hands of only 6 people, all citizens of the United States. And only 2 of those hundred would own a computer.

The other's response was "Meaning there are dark days coming for a pampered nation". To that, the response was, "Unless we get very tough, quick, yes".

I too believe, Dark Days Are Coming, and whether the condensing of the world figures are correct or not I've no idea, but I do know we are a papered nation, and subject to the Universal Law Of Cause and Effect. What holds true for people is also true for nations as well. Best we get behind the swelling movement to get America back to a Republic, and a government by the People.  Cheers.     CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - Can we talk?? Eastern Wisdom etc.

Happy sunday y'all.

I ran across some Eastern wisdoms, and thought this'd be a good day to put a few down here for whatever good they might generate. I liked them and so should you, right? Right.

1. The true MIssion of religion is to help people manifest the power within themselves to over-come their difficulties and be happy.

2. People are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.

3. The Universe is Life itself. When we die our lives melt back into the greater life of the
Universe and are nowhere to be found, much like the interval of sleep, when our minds are
seemingly nowhere. Just as we resume our mental activities from the previous day upon
awakening, so too are we born with our karma from previous existences. In this way, just
as we sleep and wake, we are born and die, maintaining an eternal cycle of life.

4. There are three kinds of LAW: Social and Moral Law; Culturally and Acceptable Behavior;
Civil and Criminal Law, or legally acceptable Behavior; and Universal Law of Cause and Effect. We may avoid the consequences of the first two, but NEVER the third.

Now, you should get something out of these wisdoms if you are like me and most people living in this world. So, Cheers, and all that good stuff.  See ya.     CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS ?? Buddhism - Cause and Effect. The Case.

Greetings on hump day, here once again, so we are making progress on the week, cheer up.

Tit for tat, what goes round comes round, you reap what you sow, etc. But let's get serious, and you'd best pay attention.

In Nichiren Buddhism, it's Cause and Effect and is a Universal Law, and as laws go, it is best to heed it as a Law just like any man-made Law. Like, if you make a bad cause there will be nobody to arrest you. And if you make a good cause, there will be nobody to pin a medal on you.

But here is the thing, once a Cause is made, rest assured, the consequence is starting to work. You know. Good Cause, good effect. Bad Cause, bad effect. Inevitable and absolute. No time limits. Sadly, in this age, Cause and Effect is a principle most people take for granted. Nichiren Buddhists live by this Law, with great respect. Does that mean we do no wrong or make bad causes, heck NO, but if we do make a bad cause we know why and accept the bad consequence. We don't run to some Deity way out yonder somewhere and ask for forgiveness or moan about "Why ME".

You see, in this Buddhism we know that this Great Spiritual Power resides within each of us on earth, that's why it's power. So this Power is available to us constantly, so when we pray we actually are praying to ourselves. We pray by chanting, and there is never a doubt that are prayers will not be anwered, just as certain as we know we are subject absolutely to the Universal Law of Cause and Effect. What a wonderful of happiness to know that no matter what life has to offer, we can handle it, take it on, whatever. Even best, it will prove itself.

All for hump day. I will go into a bit more detain in my next blog. If you are not strongly biased against other spiritual ideas and philosphies, the check back for with an open mind and who knows, you might start to see a new way of life. A beautiful way.    Cheers      CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - Why Buddhism?????

Hello y'all,  hey, a whole new week ahead and a chance to contribute to life and your happiness.

What great rallies there were on Saturday in Washington and New York? Working on the nation's spiritualality is a wonderful thing, which in turn will eventually affect the nation's virtues and principles, collectively and hopefully it's political character, badly needed. And about time, don't you think????

This morning in another email avenue, a writer touched on this business of making choices. Like, between, cat or dog, spinach or hotdog, republican or democrat, et al.

It got me to thinking about how people make choices between religions. Most I think, like me, are born into families who practice one relgion or another, you know, Protestant, Baptist, Islam, Hindu, Buddhism and on. Of course, many also, upon adulthood, change for one reason or another.

Like me, born a son of a Protestant Minister, who died at my age of 14. I am now a senior and over time I joined the Christian Science group, Unity, (not Unitarian), and finally Nichiren Buddhism. It seems people like me are searching for something, a meaning of life, who am I in this life, you know, and I finally found what finally made sense to me spiritually. Now I am totally Happy, as in Absolute.

Now, here is a question for you, or you, or you. Are you totally and absolutely Happy? AND, is it because of your choice of religion or, if not, what else do you attribute it too. (no smoking here ).

I will define my side of the fence, so to speak,  in my next blog, and if anyone out there reading this and want to jump into the waters, be my guest and welcome. Thanks.     Cheers    CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - Why Buddhism????? (Cont'd)

Well, what do ya' know, here it is again, TGIF. Well, are you ready for some weekend???? YEAH !

For those looking for spiritual strength and are not fanatically locked into any particular 'religion', and are open minded otherwise, here are your thoughts, to ponder for yourself, these, on Nichiren Buddhism.

NICHIREN BUDDHISM, THE BUDDHISM OF THE "SUN".

Nichiren Buddhism is shedding its light all around the world. We have arrived at a time in which our movement for Peace, Culture, and Education, grounded in Buddhist Principles, will send it's light of Hope thoroughout Society.

Do you have any idea just why you should consider Nichiren Buddhism in your life????? No?

How would you like to have,  "ABSOLUTE AND INDESTRUCTIBLE HAPPINESS" or in short,
BUDDAHOOD.

Normal happiness, by contrast, is only relative happiness. Wealth instead of poverty, health instead of sickness, and peace instead of conflict are all examples of relative happiness -- happiness that depends on necessary conditions. The moment one of these conditions disappears, our happiness is shattered; and if the loss is a serious one, we experience dispair. Such finiteness and uncertainty are inherent in mundane happiness and characterize life in the world.

The absolute happiness of Buddhism, however, is unaffected by circumstantial changes or difficulties. Although absolute happiness does not imply freedom from sufferings and problems,
it does indicate possession of a vibrant, sturdy life force and the abundant wisdom to challenge and overcome all sufferings and difficulties we may encounter.

By making such a condition our own, we can live with unassailable confidence. Buddhahoo is also characterized by deep compassion for others and boundless wisdom. Indeed, all of the elments that enable us to lead truly humane lives are contained in the state of Buddhahood

This is it for this week, friends. Have a good one.   Cheers      CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS ? Today, THINGS I'VE LEARNED..cont'd.

Dear loyal readers, Yeah I know, 2 days in a row, but just wanted to complete the "I've learned list". So here we go.

                                                     *******************

                                                      I'VE LEARNED -

that your family won't always be there for you. It may seem funny, but people you aren't related to can take care of you and love yuo and teach you to trust people again. Families aren't biolog-ical.

                                                     I'VE LEARNED -

that no matter how good a friend is, they're  going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

                                                     I'VE LEARNED -

that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others, sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.

                                                    I'VE LEARNED -

that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become !!

                                                    I'VE LEARNED

that because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other. And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean the do.

                                                    I'VE LEARNED -

that we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

                                                    I'VE LEARNED -

that your shouldn't be so eager to find out a secred. It could change your life forever.!

                                                    I'VE LEARNED -

that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.!

                                                     I'VE LEARNED -

that your life can be changed in a matter of minutes, by people who don't even know you. I've learned - that even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help.

                                                    I'VE LEARNED -

that credential on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

                                                    I'VE LEARNED -

that the people you care about most in your life are taken from you too soon.

Now there, you have learned some of the things in life that I have.   Cheers     CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS ? Today, THINGS I'VE LEARNED..

Hi people, how is everyone on hump day. Cheer up, the week will soon reach TGIF day. I ran across this in my file the other day, and so I thought a change of pace would be good. Here is a long list of things I've learned in my extended life.

                                                            I'VE LEARNED
that you cane do something in an instant that will give you a heartache for life. I've learned - that it's taking me along time to become the person I want to be.

                                                             I'VE LEARND
that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them. I've learned - that you can keep going long after you can't.

                                                              I'VE LEARNED
that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel. I've learned - that either you control your attitude or it controls you.

                                                               I'VE LEARNED
that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.

                                                               I'VE LEARNED
that heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

                                                               I'VE LEARNED

that money is a lousy way of keeping score. I've learned - that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

                                                               I'VE LEARNED

that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.

                                                                I'VE LEARNED

that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel. I've learned - that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.

                                                                I'VE LEARNED

that just because someone dosn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

                                                                I'VE LEARNED

that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

 More later, cheers. CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - Why Buddhism????? (Cont'd)

Hey, y'all, here we are, back to TGIF again. Yeah, and we are all looking forward to a fun filled weekend, right? Sure we are. But you know, not everyone will, because that is not the way it works. There will be some having troubles, others, health problems, or your unemployed and you will continue worrying, hoping or praying next week will be better, like finding that job. Still, this scenario is not new, is it?

Whatever your religious bent, there is no substitute for FAITH. It really is so simple, but 'religions' make it difficult. Each has a different view of their mission and who and what God is (fundamentalists), which in my mind is a separation, pure and simple. Then there is politics and another form of separation. Its no wonder people wonder or feel 'different' in both cases.

Nichiren, as in, Nichiren's Buddhism, makes it simple. He says "Faith alone, is all that really matters". We, who practice his humanistic religious philosophy, develop such faith that we all feel confident that we can handle whatever turns up in our lives. We take full responsibility for whatever happens to us, knowing full well that this Great Spiritual Power resides within each and available just by chanting prayer.

Now, the Buddhist reachings developed and were expounded in many scriptures, from early Buddhism through Mahayana Buddhism, which explains the potential Buddhahood --the Buddha nature --INHERENT IN EVERYONE.

Though original Buddhism dates back nearly 3000 years ago, originating in India, the Buddhism of Nichiren dates from seven centuries in age, and provides a marvelous prescription for the helpless and despair now pervading society. Fate, of course, does not always turn out according to our wishes, but Buddhism --especially Nichiren Buddhism -- posses the power with which we can transform destiny. It sheds light on all aspects of human life and penetrates to its core. Universally applicable to all humanity, in EVERY circumstance, it is well worth lifelong study and application.

Believe me folks when you have this kind of FAITh, as in, unlimited faith, and which actually proves itself, whether you believe it will or not, there is no happier feeling in this world to know that whatever comes up in your life, you can handle it.

Oh, and in case you slip up or get careless with your daily choices that we all have to make, you will soon recognize that you also come under the Universal Law of Cause and Effect.  If you keep getting bad consequences for your bad causes, you soon will become very careful how you make choices. That takes care of the variables in life, which leads to real HAPPINESS.

O.K., I leave you to your own devices for a couple days and I will be back on Monday filled with all sorts of good things for you, and ready to enlighten you on Easter wisdom, a religious philosophy for the ages.

Cheers       CJ                        Can I expect some responses ? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS

RELIGION or POLITICS - Why Buddhism????? (Cont'd)

Hi Ho y'all, Now aren't you glad the weekend is over and you are happily back to work? No? AWWWW!  For those who aren't working, cheer up, it surely might get worse, so all I can say is "WAKE UP" to what where this country is being led to.

ON the other hand, "WHEN THE 'POWER OF LOVE' OVERCOMES THE 'LOVE OF POWER'  THE WORLD WILL KNOW PEACE." ........Meanwhile....

I closed my last blog with Shakyamuni's have described what it means to be enlightened. (Check archives) . He said,    "This is my constant thought: how I can cause all living beings to gain entry to the highest way and quickly attain Buddhahood".

I don't want to get into the story of Shakyamuni, who basically founded what is now Nichiren Buddhism, even though he lived nearly 3000 years ago, but for your understanding, he was born a prince of the Shakya caste and originally called Siddhartha Gautama. He grew up in regal luxury, but nevertheless it was prophesied before his birth that he would never inherit the throne, but, rather, was destined to become a man of great wisdom. He did and he was.

To jump ahead a bit; In Buddhism, this spirit of universal and impartial compassion is called 'jihi', comparable in some ways to the function of love in Christianity. Literally, 'ji' means to remove suffering and 'hi' means to give fundamental happiness. Implicit in  the concept of 'jihi', then, is an emphasis upon action.

Shakyamuni wanted to discover the solution to problem of birth, old age, and death, and so took the necessary action to reach the understanding of life he sought. Once he had attained enlightment he spent the rest of his life among the people, actively passing on what he had learnt and ensuring that his teachings would be transmitted to posterity. In this light, the idea that Buddhism is something that is the special preserve of wise men meditating on mountain tops begins to look a little mis-placed.

Bearing these points in mind, and before we go on to discuss in more detail the Buddhist niew of life, it is important to mention a central feature of Buddhism which sets it apart from a religion such as Christian-ity (which most people in the West have at least a passing familiarity), namely, its atheism.

At heart, the difference between the two religions lies in their respective explanations of the nature of the primary force of teh universe and how we, as human beings, relate to it.  Christ-ianity teaches the existence of an all-powerful and all-seeing God. In contrast, Buddhism assserts the existence of a universal Law of life, expressed as - Nam Myoh Renge Kyo -. Of course, it msut be admitted that the Christian idea of god has evolve considerably from the Yawweh of the ancient tribes of israel, and that to some Christians today, God, is not a being in any sense but, rather, an abstract force with certain similarities to the Buddhist concept of the Universal Law. Even so, the implications of this basic difference between the two religions are far-reaching.

Fundamentally, Christianity teaches that there is an unbridgeable gulf between humanity and God for, even if one is taken into his grace, a humna bein can never actually become God or his equal. In contrast, Buddhism teaches that all people have the inherent potential to attain the supreme life-condition of Buddhahood in this lifetime and, indeedm that the prime purpose of a Buddha is to awaken ordinary people to, and then teach how to bring forth, their Buddha nature.

IN the Lotus Sutra , for example, Shakyamuni states, 'At the start I pledged to make all people perfectly equal to me, without any distinction between us', and throughout his writings, Nichiren Daishonin is at pains to convince his followers that Buddhism is not the exclusive possession of the Shakyamuni who died over 2000 years before, but that they all have it too.

He says, we common mortals can see neither our own eyebrows, which are so close, not heaven in the distance. Likewise, we do not see that the Buddha exists in our own hearts.

Buddhism explicitly denies the existence of a force external life. As Nichiren Daishonin states in ON MAINTAINING BUDDHAHOOD, one of his most famous writings:

You must never seek any of Shakyamuni's teachings of the Buddhas or bodhisattvas of the universe outside yourself. Your mastery of the Buddhist teachings will not relieve you of mortal sufferings in the least unless you perceive the nature of your own life. If you seek enlightment ouside yourself, any discipline or good deed will be meaningless. For example, a poor man cannot earn a penny just by counting his neighbor's wealth, even if he does so day and night.

I leave you here with the best of all emotions, love.  Back shortly.  Cheers     CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - Why Buddhism????? (Cont'd)

Greetings oh great ones, thanks for visiting, Today I digress a bit but only to give a bit more background on the creator of Modern age Buddhism, Nichiren Daishonin. This is his take on RELIGION.

In thirteenth-century Japan, Nichiren promulgated these ideas, which are today practiced by millions of people in nearly 200 nations. Yet despite this widespread following, many people still know little but nothing of Nichiren's teachings.

Nichiren's teachings have also been misapplied and even exploited in the past as in the case of Japan's militarist aurthorities, who branded them as ultranationalistic and superpatriotic. Today, some characterize Nichiren's as exclusivist and sectarian. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth.

Nichiren lived during a period of social upheaval. Natural disasters, epidemics, famine, and the threat of foreigh invasion terrified the people of Japan. Nichiren was adamant that such troujble had befallen the country because Buddhist teachers of his day neither understood nor taught the significance of the Lotus Sutra. He wrote several discourses and letters explaining his views, and he vigorously criticized the government and other Buddhist teachers, arousing such animosity that he was banished twice.

Any religions will assert the absolute correctness of its teachings. For precisely this reason, religion can easily lead people astray. In full recognition of this, Nichiren struggled to refute the aspects of religion that keep from entering the path to full awakening, without attacking the followers of specific Buddhist schools or merely trying to expand his own school.

Nichiren'e critcism of these aspects i summed up as the four dictums, which point out four un-balanced religious archetypes, and which represent areasoned religious criticism that strictly identifies sources of self-righteousness and religious authoritarianism. Religion becomes un-balanced, Nichiren taught, through dogmatic emphasis of any of the following concepts:

1. SEEKING SALVATION ONLY THROUGH THE EXTERNAL POWER OF AN ABSOLUTE BEING.

2. SEEKING ENLIGHTMENT ONLY THROUGH DIRECT PERCEPTION OF ONE'S OWN MIND AND CONTENTMENT WITH THIS SELF-ENLIGHTENMENT.

3. BENEFITTING IN THIS LIFE THROUGH OCCULT MEANS.

4. ALLOWING ONESELF TO BE CONTROLED BY PERCEPTS OR STANDARDS.

The perfectly balanced teaching succumbs to none of thes extremes. Rather, it expounds the fusion of internal and external power as the means fo transform the life of the individual as well as the surrounding circumstances. A fully developed religion, as conceived by Nichiren, is completely balanced, harmonious-ly incorporating the religon's fundamental characteristics without bias or distortion.

The modern significance of Nichiren's four dictums lies not in simply refuting Japanese Buddhist schools but in fully developing the positive power of human life. His teaching transcends the narrow boundaries of a single shool. It is a religion for all humanity.

TOO REPEAT, A FULLY DEVELOPED RELIGON AS CONCEIVED BY NICHIREN, IS COMPLETELY BALANCED,  HARMONIOUSLY INCORPORATING THE RELIGION'S FUNDAMENTAL CHARACTERISTICS "WITHOUT BIAS OR DISTORTION", A RELIGION FOR ALL HUMANITY.

Can your religion measure up??? If yes, great, and your faith should be Unlimited.

If not, you definitely should hang in with me and get involved in dialogue. If not now, WHEN??

\Cheers,   CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - Why Buddhism????? (Cont'd)

Hi y'all, it's a wonderful sunday even though here in the west coast of Florida it is raining, off and on, but our glorious sun will appear soon.

Now, I am on the subject of life and how to win. My last blog's final paragraph was "Society is complex and harsh, demanding that you struggle hard to survive. No one can make you happy. Everything depends of YOU as to whether or not you attain happiness... A human being is destined to a life of great suffering if he is weak and vulnerable to his external surroundings."

TO GO ON:    Of course, this is not to deny the gravity and scale of some of the problems facing mankind today. Starvation in the Third World, wars within and between states, the excalating pace of the destruction of the natural environment - these are not going to disappear over night simply because people start to think about them in a different way. Always, is the real physical suffering of someone with a  painful illness of course, but even of the nature our problem relates directly to our own strength; when we are weak, our problems seem large, even insuperable; when we are strong, they appear small.

The real question then, is how to make ourselves stronger. The answer tha Nichiren's Buddhism gives is that, when we chant our problems, we can use the very sufferings we are trying to overcome to help us grow. This may sound strange but from the viewpoint of this Buddhism, sufferings - whether personal, social, or those facing mankind as a whole - are not just inevitable; they are essential.

In other words, problems are the very means by which people can develop their full potential as human beings. As Nichiren Daishonin says, "Only by defeating a powerful enemy can one prove his real strength".

To put it simply, the highest teachings of Buddhism show how the desire to overcome suffering can be one of the greatest incentives for progress.

For instance, the development of medical science is perhaps the most obvious example of this, but one can also point to the principle at work in the development of whole countries, the suffering caused by periodic famines in India, for example, forced the nation's agronomists to tackle the basic problems of food pro-duction; they have solved this to the extent that India is now not only self-sufficent in food but also a net exporter.

When it comes to personal suffering the principle works in a more particularized way, one which responds to the individual's unique circumstances. And the principle works, just as certain as the, Universal Law of Cause and Effect, and Karma. They are absolute, and because people ignore these principles, is why the sufferings.

For a moment briefly, as to karma, it teaches that the effects we experience in the present are the inevitable results of causes we have made in the past, either in this lifetime or over many previous life-times.

I leave you for now, and will expound on the subject matter in my next blogs.

Meantime, I offer a quote by Jimi Hendrix...... "When the Power of Love overcomes the Love of Power, the world will know Peace".

Cheers.         CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - Why Buddhism?????

Hello again, wonderful people, thanks for coming back, so here is more on the subject of Nichiren Buddhism and life's problems. The last ended on Personal Relationships, and why it is important to tackle a problem between two people. (see last blog),

Not doing it --like in clash of desires for instance -- usually for fear of no knowing what the consequences will be, or perhaps simply because of dislike of conflict, can easily lead to a build-up of resentments which, when finally expressed, can be immensely destructive.

The story of the "mild-mannered" civil servant who, in 1987, was jailed for strangling his wife of 26 years of marriage, ostensibly because she simply moved his favorite mustart from its usual place at the dinner table, is an extreme, but true, example of this.

One of the natural consequences of the close link between problems and suffering is that people tend

to confuse the one with the other. For example, if you are unemployed, it is vert probable that you are also
unhappy; you will probably think that you are unhappy because you are unemployed.

While it may be very well be true that you would probably be happier in work that out of it (though this is

debatable, in view of the number of people who complain about their jobs), strictly speaking your un-

happiness is not because you are unemployed but, rather, because you feel helpless inbeing unable to

find a job. In other words, it is not so much our problems which cause us to suffer as our INABILITY to overcome them. Remember, our natural tendency as humans is always to find out reasons outside ourselves, in our environment, to excuse what really is our own shortcomings.

Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism teaches that it is our fundamental attitude to problems and the suffering

which usually accompanies them that determines the extent to which we win or lose in creating a happy

life.  The Chinese, for example, write the word "crisis" using two characters, one of which means "danger", the other "opportunity". The crucial issue, then, is whether or not we can recognize the opportunity amidst the danger. Daisaku Ikeda writes:

Society is complex and harsh, demanding that you struggle hard to survive. No one can make you happy. Everthing depends on you as to whether or not you attain happiness... A human being is destined to a life of great suffering if he is weak and vulnerable to his external surroundings.

That's all for today, friends, you are greater than you think.   Cheers  CJ  (Check back soon)

Politics next week - Eastern Wisdom TODAY

Howdy doody, y'all,
\
My last blog was to give you, who are not religiously biased and open minded, some insites into the Humanistic religion that I embrace and why I am a Nichiren Buddhist now. I quoted you passages from one of my Buddhism sources of inspiration called "The Buddha in daily Life" by Richard Causton. If you'd care to catch up, check the archives for July 29. It was written 15 years ago and as a preface to introducing Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism. It was true then and even more so today.

Here is a bit more ---: Strange as it may seem, the world's current predicament was foreseen some 3,000
years ago by the Buddha, Shakyamuni. In contrast to the apocalyptic prophecies of some other religions, however, Shakyamuni also predicted that, out of the confusion of this time, which he termed 'the beginning of the 'Latter Day of the Law', a great teaching would appear, based upon his own highest teaching the "Lotus Sutra". This teaching would enable ordinary people to develop the qualities necessary to combat the enormous problems that they would encounter. AND,  the Latter Day of the Law would be an Age of EVIL of some 10,000 years in existance. It is believed in Japan it started in the year 1052.

The essence of this teaching was later defined as Nam Myoho Renge Kyo by a 13th century priest called Nichiren Daishonin ('Daishonin' meaning 'Great Sage'). I will explain more on this later on.

In Introduction now, the basic practice of the Buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin consists of chanting the phrase Nam Myoho Renge Kyo to the Gohonzon, a scroll inscribed with many Chinese and two Sanskrit characters. This is supported by the daily practice of morning and evening gongyo, the recitation of two key chapters of the Lotus Sutra, followed by chanting Nam Myoho Renge Kyo 'to your hearts content'.

If you do this, study and teach others the Buddhist view of life to the best of your ability, you will develop a state of life in which your desires are completely fulfilled, which creates the maximum value and good fortune for yourself and your society, and which is powered by unshakeable happiness and confidence, no matter what problems you may be facing.

Nichiren Daishonin, the founder of this Buddhism, states: "A law this easy to embrace and this easy to practice was taught for the sake of all mankind in this evil Latter Day of the Law.

This may sound incredible - not only in the sense of being too good to be true but, literally, unbelievable.
How can chanting a phrase one does not even understand, over and over again to a piece of paper, possibly have such and effect????

O.K., I will answer this last question in my next blog. Please do come back and at least LEARN some-thing new that could affect your life in this (proven to be) evil age. For or against I do welcomed your feed back and comments. Thanks         Cheers.       CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - Can we talk? Why Buddhism...

Greetings friend,

My last blog was on why I turned to Nichiren Buddhism, and now I will explain all  the basics, that no only makes sense to me, but has proven to be valid, sensible, and a great spiritual source, that has held up through all sorts of my lifes challenges.  So, if you haven't solidified your spiritual beliefs and still have doubts, keep reading. You will find food for thought.

Nichiren Buddhists religious philosophy basics:

We do NOT believe in a single Supreme Deity. We DO believe in a higher spiritual power.

We DO believe that this spiritual POWER is within each and everyone on this earth. The POWER is available any time it is needed. YOU do NOT have to go and plead or beseech for, help or solace, to  someone way out in the beyond somewhere. NOT, he or she, but IT. It is a spirit, pure and simple, and it is there within us all every waking or sleeping moment.

Now, in Nichiren Buddhism, YOU will take FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR EVERY THING THAT HAPPENS TO YOU. There is NO blaming anything or anybody else if things don't turn out for you or bad things happen to you. If there is Good, you take the credit, if bad, you take the blame, because in all the affairs of life, at every moment, we have a choice. YOU unfortunately have that FREE WILL.

Also unfortunately, most do NOT adhere to the Universal Law Of Cause and Effect.

This is also basic with Nichiren Buddhism. You make good choices, uh huh, good consequences. Then you make bad choices, uh huh, bad things happen. Once you make a choice you have made a Cause, and at the same time you have put in motion the Consequence.

Of course, there is more in depth explanation, but not necessary here. You know only that the Law works always, no time limit, and no exceptions. Even the mind set of countries will work, the same as people. Keep that truth in mind as this country USA heads into bad times. Therefore you have no room to blame other than yourself, be it a country or as an individual.

We have a quotation from Nichiren, "Enjoy what there is to enjoy, suffer what there is to suffer, accept that joy and suffering are a fact of life, then keep on chanting '__________________', no matter what heppens. (We have a chanting phrase that goes at the blank)

The reason we were all given Free Will is because we are all prone to be attracted to bad, so it is the bad things that are the learning factor to the life experience. And it NOT meant to be easy.

So you see, dear reader, Life is really quite simple. To me I have given thought often to "Are RELIGIONS OUR WEAKEST LINK)? Every religion has its own view point on the subject, each to be different so that people have, uh huh, Choices. This is a formula for Separation, in my opinion, and separation is enough to handle with today's politics.

Cheers, see ya'.      CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - the Religious side!!

Hi anybody, Please excuse, I had a couple days off and could not get to put a blog together. BUT,

As anyone knows, I am an avid listener to Glenn Beck, and it is quite possible we are looking at the white Martin Luther King. Well Martin Luther rallied for Freedom and Equality for all. I am sure progress has been made in America since his demise in racism, however, the most recent administration in Washington is leading the country into Social and Marxism. Sadly, they are using racism to arouse hatred and separation in the masses. Deliberately. They want all people to lose their composure and get violent, so they can be pointed out by the Far Left Accusers, as the ones who are causing all the problems as in, racism, as a cover for their own devious works.

There is a new Black Panther movement that is actively practicing hate and scare tactics at polling places, as in their plans for future elections. They scream hate for all crackers, kill all of them, kill babies. Sure, this will arouse many of us in the unfairness and especially the hatred factor. They want to generate the worst in us.

Glenn Beck is now pointing out the weakness in America, which is the general feeling of apathy, lack of morality, and the "entitlement" mind set that is pervasive in the country. Beck feels that much of this is the lack of strong spiritualism and the moral strength that religion generates in people who practice consist-antly. That, many no longer take RESPONSIBILITY for themselves, their lives, and in their work lives.

I agree with Beck whole heartedly, up to a point. That point being, religions, period. There are so many religions, each with its own view point about God, and the tenets it adheres to. In my opinion, this fact along creates separation in the minds of the different memberships, who think their religion is better than the others.

I am a Nichiren Buddhist, that is no secret. I've been involved in a few different religions, actually being the son of a Presbyterian Minister. But having practiced Nichiren Buddhism for over 12 years, I am the happiest person I have ever been and the most comfortable with the practice, especially their incredible down to earth, humanistic, religious philosophy.

I have long thought that religions are our weakest link. However, I do think that this movement is a great thing to happen and it is going to be activated directly by Glenn Beck as part of his contritubution to wake up America to what is happening and the direction America is being led. Wake up people, before it is too late.  NOT RACIST, NOTE VIOLENT, BUT NO LONGER SILENT.

In my next blog I will discuss my take on religions and its weaknesses, and compare my Buddhism and how it answers peoples spiritual needs best and why.   Cheers      CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - ..Down and Dirty

Hey folks, cheer up it's hump day. And now I give you another of those revelations that is just another part of what Obama and his dirty Admin is up to and why.

                                                   DOWN---Where America is headed...

DIRTY--- This Admin who is paving the way.

-- Legalize 12 million illegal immigrants. Just giving these 12 million potential new citizens free health care alone could overwhelm the system and bankrupt America. But it adds 12 million reliable new Democrat voters who can be counted on to support big government. Add another trillion dollars in welfare, aid to dependent children, food stamps, free medical, education, tax credits for the poor, and eventually Social Security.

Stimulus and bailouts. Where did all that money go? It went to Democrat contributors, organizations (ACORN), and unions -- including billions of dollars to save or create jobs of government employees across the country. It went to save GM and Chrysler so that their employees could keep paying union dues.  It went to AIG so that Goldman Sachs could be bailed out (after giving Obama almost $1 million in contributions). A staggering $125 billion went to teachers (thereby protecting their union dues). All those public employees will vote loyally Democrat to protect theri bloated salaries and pensions that are bankrupting America. The country goes broke, future generations face a bleak future, but Obama, the Democrat Party, government and the unions grow more powerful. The ends justify the means.

Shortly I will complete this horrendous picture for you, assuming you love America, Cheers,   CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS ......Down and Dirty

Hi people, hey, another day, another dollar, whoopee!

NOT RACIST, NOT VIOLENT,  BUT NO LONGER SILENT

DOWN---Where good old USA is headed.

DIRTY--- This Admin guiding the way.

More from a couple days ago:

Barrack Obama is no fool. He is not imcompetent. To the contrary, he is brilliant. He knows exactly what he is doing. He is purposely overwhelming the U.S. Economy to create systematic failure, economic crisis and social chaos -- thereby destroying capitalism and our country from within.

-- Universal health care. The health care bill had very little to do with health care. It had every-thing to do with unionizing millions of hospital and health care workers, as well as adding 15,000 to 20,000 new IRS agents (who will join government employee unions). What he does care about is that it cements the dependence of those 30 million voters to Democrats and big government. Who but a socialist revolutionary would pass this reckless spending bill in the middle of a depression.

Got it so far, huh, huh huh? WAKE UP!!!!! More later.  Cheers     CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - ..Down and Dirty

NOT RACIST, NOT VIOLENT, BUT NO LONGER SILENT

DOWN?  Where good old US of A is headed  !!!!!
                                         DIRTY?   This Marxist Administration !!!!

Hellooooooooooo, and I know that everyone had a great 4th. NOW;

These comments are by Nancy Davis from Palmetto Fla., in the Bradenton Herald.

Heading-------GOVERNMENT TO BLAME FOR DECLINE OF OUR STANDARDS ...

She said .. "It never ceases to amaze me at what our government is getting away with while we the people turn our heads. We see the steady decline of our standards on which this great nation was founded. Lies are commonplace, greed trumps patriotism, and more and more corruption is accepted and nothing is being done about it. Further----We have overwhelming debt and exploding deficits that can lead to the financial meltdown of our nation.

Our nation's top leaders attempt to bribe candidates to drop out of a race for office with promises of political rewards. They've Made the killing of babies and same sex marriages legal.

Obama did not participate in the 21st National Day of Prayer for fear of offending someone. But on Sept. 25, 2009 he prayed with the Muslims who believe that Whites who cannot be converted should be annihilated.

Nancy closed by saying, "it is time for Americans to unite on our founding principles of limited, responsible, and accountable government by voting for people with morals, this November

I am whole heartedly with you Nancy.

There is even more in the same vein which I will present to you in the next blog. Don't miss it if you are a real American, regardless of party allegiance.     Cheers      CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS ??????? Today is Religion.

Hi good people, happy weekend,

This is sort of a follow up to yesterday's blog on why I am a Nichiren Buddist in my spiritual life. AND have never been so HAPPY. Here is a snippet to explain a bit further.

Nichiren's Buddhist teachings appeals to man to be noble, pure, and charitable, NOT in order to please any supreme being, but in order to be TRUE to the highest in himself.

When it comes to refraining from lying, cheating, over-indulging in stimulants, unlike western religion regarding sin and virtue, where "thou shalt or shalt not" as commandments, Buddhism merely counsels, "It is better to or better not to" but leaves it up to individual choice and who remains free to verify, through his own experience, the wisdom of these suggestions.

The Universal Law of Cause and Effect comes totally into play in all lives, DAILY.   Cheers.   CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - ..Down and Dirty

Happy new week, 2nd day.

NOT  RACIST, NOT VIOLENT, NO LONGER SILENT

                                         America Heading--DOWN
                                          This Administration doing the--DIRTY

NOW, people, Are you WAKING UP?????

If not, do you not believe you are going to be paying $7 a gallon for gas or higher. Utilities - Much higher.
You don't? Well you tell me what is going on in the gulf. Besides BP there are 33 other drillings going on in the gulf. The President declared no more drilling in the gulf. Do you have any idea how many workers are losing their jobs thereby? To say nothing of the lost revenue and lost oil that would result.

Oh yes, the courts declared that invalid and canceled the order. Now Obama said he is going to fight that decision. Just like Roosevelt who challenged the Supreme Court on a decision that went against him. He was bent on eliminating the SC altogether, but failed there. Still????? Just more Progressives venting there rage at being stymied.

But, despite the seriousness of the BP disaster, it was only the first such to happen in hundreds of drillings that have been going on in the Gulf for years.

But the more serious aspect of this action, this Admin wants to destroy the oil industry and deliberately ruin the oil business and cause the cost of oil to sky rocket.

Ah, but why has Soros, who pulls strings with the White House, sunk $900 million in Brazil's major oil company and encourage them to do unlimited oil search and drillings all over the Brazil coast. AND, Obama has pledged $2 billion dollars to the same company, Petro Brazil.

Why are they discouraging US drilling and encouraging Brazil???????????

O.K. wise guy, you tell me the answer if you don't think this is DOWN and DIRTY !!!!!

See ya,    Cheerio     CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS -------..Down and Dirty

Well, what do you know. Obama has a solution to our oil problems....just stop all oil drilling in the gulf, and let BP chuck in multi millions of dollars to a slush find so Obama can play Santa Claus and dole out the money where it will buy the most votes, with no cross checks to see where the money goes.

But here is the kicker. The biggest oil company in Brazil, is being encourage to go ALL OUT to explore and drill for oil......  in the gulf, and in offshore waters in the USA???' Heck no, Brazil and around So. America. But guess who is funding the Brazil oil company ventures, give up???? Who else but George Soros, and Obama who chipped in $2 billion.

There is a war going on, folks, and you'd better get with it, before we become a Communist nation. It is very hard to read the papers and all the blather about the Economy turning the corner. Then the blasting directed at Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and others, who are bringing out the truth of what is REALLY going on, and proving it, by naming names and showing specific info which graphically ties them all together with this Administration, specifically Obama and his Czars, all supporters of Marxism. It is a war, you betcha. Ask Sarah Palin, who believes BP is not really trying to stop the leak. Do you smell something sinister behind this oil debacle???????

You say, Nay, can't happen in America, well, friend, you'd better get with our history and compare what is happening with the Constitution as your guide to wisdom. You see, it just isn't something that is going to be a massive take-over, but it is happening, one little piece at a time, little by little, like the FROG in the boiling water story.

Ta Ta friends, you disagree? well come on, SPeak your Piece. Deal only in FACTS>    CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - Can we talk??..Down and Dirty

Hey people, I think I skipped a day or two. Partly because I've had on going glitches in my computer and can't seem to trace them down, so I get a bit distracted from normal fussing back and forth with those who propose to help me.

Anyway, there is much of importance ahead, not much of it BAD news. Especially this week we're going to learn what we as a country are headed for, why and how. If you listen to Glenn Beck you will be privy to the same info, but I will sift out certain stuff and comment here on what will be the meat of the big ball of trouble in store for who????????? YOU, of course. Taxpayers.

You see Oboma is an expert on all things, that's why stupid and gullible voters elected him to office. UM, he became this expert as a Community Organizer in Chicago. That position qualifys a person to know everything about Capitalism, Foreign Policy, War, Religion, running huge Corporations, and now he knows all about the oil business too. Yes, and it is so easy, he just throws huge sums of money at and to all of those facets of government and business. But, hey, do you think he knows about spending money and paying back and balancing the budget,? Nah. But don't worry, let the generations ahead handle the multi, multi, multi trillions of debt. Hey what do these people in this Congress care, by the time payments come due, they will all be pushing up sod in there individual states.

So, folks, please keep in touch and for those who care, come on, write in your opinions, and lets do the dialogue. Much more next issue. Ta Ta,       CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - Down and Dirty!!!!!!

Hi Ho y'all, good to see you back. Don't forget to respond and let me know what YOU think...Yes, DO.

There is so much going on and to keep track of so I can accumulate a good Blog here. I have a lot to say, or rather dialogue with you on Religion and/or religions, but for today, next.

For starters, here is one definition of the word "politician" in Webster's dictionary.

One actively engaged in politics often used with implications of seeking personal or partisan gain; scheming.

Next time you vote give this some thought.

Now, hey, did you know that if you order a copy of the Constitution it will probably come with a DISCLAIMER. Can you believe that?????? You think America is not under attack form within????

Man, if you don't, by now, realize that this country is slowly, inch by inch, being directed to RUIN, then you'd better WAKE UP.

It is a proven fact over centuries of time that A CENTRAL GOVERNMENT KILLS FREEDOM. It is inevitable. so, DON'T BECOME A SLAVE TO GOVERNMENT!!!!!

NOT RACIST, NOT VIOLENT, BUT NO LONGER SILENT.......... TaTa    CJ

And search your memory to see if you remember this National Song, sung many years ago, but seldom hear anymore. Let Freedom Ring, LOUDER, LOUDER AND EVEN MORE LOUDER!!!

My Country 'tis of thee,

Sweet Land of Liberty,

Of thee I sing.

Land where our Fathers died,

Land of our Pilgrims Pride,

From every mountain side,

Let Freedom Ring.

This is a good start, and please keep coming back, because I will be having some new "down and dirty" political information for your and you will want to see it.   TaTa     CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - Down and Dirty in the oil business

Greetings friends, Trust you all are working through TGIF and preparing for a good weekend.

Meantime, all the news is wrapped around the oil spilling out in the Gulf of Mexico. I'd like to see all the concentration that is now going to blame who, fine who and how much, and the damage it MIGHT cause hered, there, and everywhere. It is a bad thing, sure, but all this chatter is so much air, and I'd like to see all that blather concentrated on how best to stop the damned leak.

But here is more devastating news, if you will, in the form of the oil consumption in China, growing fast and will keep doing so over the near and far future.

4 people in a thousand have cars there, and cars are now selling like they did in America in it's early stages and on. IN addition, there aren't trade ins either, because cars are only replacing bicycles. The sales for autos for auto in China now is unlimited. AND some of theirs only sell for $2000. Granted the wage scale in China is far below here in the USA, but each car is more oil being used.

All this on top of the fact that CHina is now buying up large oil companies in other parts of the world and doing so as fast as they can get them set up to buy.

Can anyone out there give an accurate picture of what it going to be like in good Old USA in the next few years and on, this, along with the direction this country is heading, with the national debt growing by leaps and bounds. Hey, pleasant dreams, and enjoy why you can.    TaTa    CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - Down and Dirty

Hi to all this wonderful Wednesday June 2, 2010.

If you happened to notice the Down and Dirty in the title, it is because that is where I am going with this blog, and hope that there are some concerned folks out there who are just instinctively developing some real fear for where this country is being dragged. I mean dragged. Against the concensus, and against any clear thinking person who respects and understands where the REAL America should be heading, with the emphasis on FREEDOM. Remember what used to be a song sung by Americans years ago?

My Country 'tis of thee,
Sweet Land of Liberty,
Of thee I sing.
Land where our Fathers died,
Land of our Pilgrims Pride,
From every mountain side,
Let Freedom Ring.

If anyone remembers this song, and knows that there are more words to be sung, please, contribute.

I am telling you right now, this country is truly heading for deep trouble and much misery will be commonly experienced, sooner than you think. I am going to feed this blog with the Down and Dirty information to keep those who aren't aware, or don't believe that so called good times are going to disappear. They are!!!!!!

Keep reading, I may step on your toes but that's a good thing, anything to WAKE you up.

"NOT RACIST, NOT VIOLENT, BUT NO LONGER SILENT."

Cheers, and do come back.      CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS ???????

I really hope everyone  is enjoying this Memorial weekend. It just might have more and more meaning as this country is being led into being a second or third class nation, and all these sacrifices that made this country GREAT will be for naught. This man-boy President wants to form a civilian army as big as the present military army. Why do you think he'd want that, huh?

He publicly said he doesn't like the flag nor the National Anthem, and wants to change both. And he won't salute this flag.

"NOT RACIST, NOT VIOLENT, BUT NO LONGER SILENT"

Cheeers, come again, please.     CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - Can we talk?? More Easter Wisdom....

Hiya folks, guess most of you are enjoying a long weekend and especially many verterans. For those who merit attention on this Memorial weekend,  great and wonderful, the country owes so much to relatively so few. I am a veteran of 2 plus years in the Navy WWII. Spent most of my time in the Pacific, and was a witness to the signing of the peace treaty on VJ Day taking place in Tokyo Bay, Sept. 2, 1945. I was a member of the crew of a Navy ship that was part of an armada of ships that sailed into Tokyo Bay that eventful day. Quite a memory.

Some Eastern Wisdom:

The Universe is Life itself. When we die our lives melt back into the greater life of the Universe and are nowhere to be found, much like the interval of sleep, when our minds are seemingly nowhere, just as we resume our mental activities from the previous day upon awakening, so too are we born with our Karma from previous existences. In this way, just as we sleep and wake, we are born and die, maintaining an eternal cycle of life.

Be safe, and be happy. If you aren't really happy, let me know, I can teach you how to be truly happy so that nothing you have to contend with in your life will cause you unhappiness.

Cheers.     CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - Can we talk??....Illegal immigrants?

Greetings folks, how are y'all??????

I have no idea on how anyone thinks about the illegal immigrant problem, but I just read a column on that subject, headlines stating that Hispanics say immigrants, are a boon. Of course non-hispanics say just the opposite.

It states further states that most hispanics condemn Arizona's new law, while only 20% of non oppose it.
But for the most part, all, seem to pretty much agree that the illegals are a problem for the country.

In a city in New Jersey, there is an Hispanic worker, a U.S. citizen, who that people are not coming to this country to do bad things, people are coming here to make money for their families, that these people love this country, in that they have sons and daughters in this country.

I do know from observation that many immigrants take jobs Americans won't do. And that is a good thing, by and large. But the problem of ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS  remains, and is a serious problem and badly treated by this administration, not wanting to offend the Hispanics for the voting power they represent. Both political parties are at a fault in handling illegals.

Illegals should NOT be here and should not be catered to for any reason. The prolem revolves on the entry into this country so easily in porous borders and the borders should be close, PERIOD. We do know that a good portion of those illegals here have clear intent to destroy America.

There should be no doubts that borders should be sealed, and Arizona is correct and it ought to be considered a good thing  by everybody, in all due respect to those Hispanics who think otherwise, they should not qualify for citizenship, and sent back home, pronto. That is my take.  TaTa   CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - Can we talk?? The Law to Pay attention to.

Hi Ho, visitor(s), if you are lucky enough to looking in today, I want to acquaint you with a very important Law, as quoted by Eastern Wisdom.

There are 3 kinds of Law: Social and Moral Law; Culturally and Behavior Law; Civil and Criminal Law, or Legally Acceptable Behavior: AND the Universal Law of Cause and Effect.

We may avoid the consequences of the first two, BUT NEVER the third.

In all the affairs of life, at every moment, we have a choice. Your choices become Causes, and every Cause has an Effect.

Some of you out there should give these statements a whole lot of thought.

TaTa, hope your day is a good one.     CJ

RELIGION or POLITICS - Can we talk?? Today - Eastern Wisdom!!!

Hi Reader, if you are here today, you will be smarter for it, but it will be short.

EASTERN WISDOM...............

"WHAT WOULD YOUR CURRENT FRUSTRATIONS LOOK LIKE FROM THE VANTAGE POINT OF THE FINAL DAYS OF YOUR LIFE??????

"PEOPLE ARE ABOUT AS HAPPY AS THEY MAKE UP THEIR MINDS TO BE"

IGNORANCE BREEDS FEAR
FEAR BREEDS HATE
HATE BREEDS VIOLENCE

Finally, remember this and keep it in mind EVERY DAY......

ITS "WE THE PEOPLE" NOT "ME THE PRESIDENT".

Cheerio, trust this weekend is a good for you. See ya.    CJ
